Boulder Tennis Association
(Adopted at the first meeting of the BTA 6-8-67)
Art. L. Name and Location
The name of this organization is the "Boulder Tennis Association," hereafter referred to as the Association. It is located in Boulder, Colorado.
Art. ll. Purpose
The purposes of the Association are:
- In general, to promote the playing of tennis in the City of Boulder and its vicinity and to encourage the provision of adequate tennis instruction.
- To bring together persons interested in tennis by providing ladder rosters in several categories.
- To conduct formal and informal tournaments.
- To consult with the Parks and Recreation Department, the School District, and other interested parties on tennis facilities.
- To provide for the possibility of league and exhibition matches.
- To publish a newsletter for its members.
Art. lll. Affiliation
The Association will apply to become affiliated with the United States Lawn Tennis Association and the Colorado Tennis Association.
Art. lV. Membership
- Any person or family may join the Association by registering with the treasurer and paying the annual dues. A family membership carries one vote.
- A member may terminate his membership by submitting a letter of resignation to the Secretary.
- Membership is automatically terminated if the annual dues are unpaid later than two months after the due date.
Art. V. Meetings
- The annual meeting of the Association shall be held during March. Notice of at least two weeks shall be given to members in writing and may be contained in the newsletter.
- Other meeting may be called on a week's written notice by the officers or any group of ten members.
- A quorum shall consist of fifteen members.
Art. Vl. Officers
- The officers of the Association (who shall be members of the Assn.) shall be Vice- President, Secretary, Treasurer, Tournament Chairman, Ladder Chairman, Newsletter Editor, and T.R.
- The President, Vice- President, Secretary, and Treasurer shall be elected for terms of one year by the members at the annual meeting. The Tournament Chairman, Ladder Chairman, Newsletter Editor, and T.R. shall be appointed by the President with the consent of the other elected officers.
- The duties of the elected officers shall be those customarily pertaining to the respective offices. The duties of the appointed officers shall be as indicated by their titles. In addition, the officers shall constitute a governing body for the Association and meet as necessary, the Secretary taking minutes.
Art. Vll. Committees and Appointments
- A nominating committee of three persons shall be elected at the annual meeting to prepare a slate of nominees for consideration at the next annual meeting.
- The President shall have the power and responsibility for appointing other committees for special purposes.
Art. Vlll. Dues
There shall be annual dues of five dollars for adults; two dollars for juniors, (persons who have not reached their eighteenth birthday by January first) and seven dollars for family membership. Dues are payable April 1.
Art. lX. Newsletter
There shall be a Newsletter prepared and distributed as often as necessary. It shall give the scores of ladder matches, the current ranking on ladders, notices of meetings, and tournaments, and any other tennis news.
Art. X. Amendments
These Bylaws may be amended by affirmative vote of 2/3 of the voting members present at a meeting. Any proposed change in the bylaws must be submitted in writing to the membership at least one week before the meeting at which it is to be considered.
